The Plate of Peace

Those who were at the 20th Food Fair and were lucky to assist at the cooking demonstration of the great Chef, Massimo Guzzone at the ItalyFood Monte Carlo stand will not forget that moment. Massimo Guzzone announced that he would not be preparing a traditional pasta dish but rather, a huge assortment of antipasti the like of which is rarely seen. After the tragic events in Paris on 13th November he had the idea to create an enormous plate of assorted antipasti based on products from Italy, France and the Middle East Mediterranean.

The Plate of Peace

Under the eye of Mr Mario Moranzoni, President of ItalyFood Monte Carlo, Chef Guzzone used at random salad, rice, puffed quinoa, semolina, dried fruits, pomegranates and many other ingredients.

And its name was the Plate of Peace.

Encouraged by the Master of Ceremonies, Olivier Taboué, Massimo Guzzone added the final touch to this edible work of art by writing the word “peace” in French, Italian and English in the corners, using colored mascarpone. For the fourth corner Mr Taboué asked the audience for help. Could anyone write the word “peace” in Arabic? A young Lebanese lady offered her services and so the art work was finished.

Mr Jean-Pierre Rous gave a speech after which the amazed spectators were offered individual mirrored plates with a selection of the ingredients used. To round off this perfect harmony, a glass of delicious red Marrone wine was served.
