Perino Baker - Torino

panegiuliaBread is the most consumed food in Italy and always present on our tables.

However it is getting more difficult every day to find bakeries that prepare it using the traditional methods and quality ingredients, especially in the North of Italy and in large cities.

Baking powder and electric ovens have taken the place of the yeast and the large wood-burning ovens.

The furnace " Perino Vesco " in via Lagrange in Turin city centre, is one of the few exceptions.

Andrea Perino discovered this small shop a few years ago and transformed it into a meeting place that sells yeast-baked products, pastries and cakes are always freshly made (bread is backed day and night) and of hight quality, offering customers the chance to try them all either inside or sitting on the shop veranda and enjoy them a tea or coffee.

Perino Vesco' decoration is in the of a French baker's; white and beige colours predominate and among the products there are many references to French cuisine. The bar offers a large number of yeasts breads typical not only of the Piedmont region, but from across Italy. All products are prepared without additives, using wheat flour and yeast, ciabatta , baguette, special breads ( with olives, nuts or fruit).

Do not miss the hand ironed breadsticks, focaccia and pizza topped with extra virgin olive oil and stuffed in every way: depending on the season we can find the cake and raw figs, bresaola and rocket, zucchini and soft cheese, focaccia from Recco, etc ...

These are surrounded by pretzels, large and small quiches and pies. The result is a
very attractive and inviting counter full of colour and fragance.

In the second room, just a coffee table and a few chairs; Piedmont hazelnut cakes, croissants, pains au chocolat , petit fours, cookies, including the typical language de chat and krumiri biscuits, the Parisian macarons and a coffee counter. 

Next to cashier there is a small fridge filled with water and some organic product from the area of Turin, like ready-made soups, dairy products, yogurt and fruit juices.

Andrea Perino places great importance on the choice of local products although not all organic; he shows great attention to detail with imagination and creativity. Business does not stop at the store; the bakery offers home delivery and organized catering and private events.

This furnace offers a mixture of tradition, quality and modern flair, a real jewel for Turin.
